Waste acceptance policy
What we collect, how it must be presented, and what we can never take. This protects you, our drivers, and everyone your waste passes on its way to safe destruction.
Effective date: 19 July 2026
What we collect
- Sharps — needles, syringes, lancets and blades, in approved puncture-resistant sharps containers, filled no higher than the fill line.
- Health-care risk waste — items contaminated with blood or body fluids (dressings, swabs, gloves, tubing), in approved sealed containers or liners.
- Pharmaceutical waste — expired or unused medication, in its packaging where possible, sealed in an approved container. (No controlled substances without prior arrangement.)
- Anatomical waste — by prior arrangement for clinic accounts, in approved rigid sealed containers.

Containers
- All waste must be in sealed, SANS-approved containers. Our drivers can supply approved containers if you need them.
- Sharps containers must be closed and locked, and never filled past the marked fill line.
- Containers must be sealed before the driver arrives — drivers do not handle loose or open waste.
What we never collect
- Radioactive material of any kind.
- Unidentified chemicals, solvents, laboratory reagents or cytotoxic waste (unless separately arranged in advance for clinic accounts).
- Compressed gas cylinders and aerosols.
- Explosives, ammunition and fireworks.
- General household refuse, recycling, or garden waste.
- Loose sharps, or any waste not in a sealed container.
Placing excluded material in a collection container is a material breach of our terms and can endanger people down the chain. Drivers will decline unsafe or out-of-scope waste, and deliberate concealment may be reported where the law requires it.
If a collection is declined
If your waste cannot be accepted — unsealed, overfilled, undeclared, or excluded — the driver records the reason and you are told in the app immediately, with what to fix. Where the whole stop is declined for reasons within your control, a call-out charge may apply as set out in the terms.
